Below are some of my highest recommendation for anyone looking to create content to engage their business networks online without looking like an amateur.

So if you want to create online content…

I create a lot of online video content for my online communities and many of you know that I do this all on a very small budget.

The most common question I get about the video content I create is nothing to with the subject matter but…”How do I do it?”

It is no secret that I have been researching this technology for years now and through constant trial an error I have finally resulted in my ideal set ups for all the main shoot styles I need as an accounting professional.

I share this hard won knowledge freely within my online communities but for ease of reference if you are new to my sites then I have a Free Gear Guide on Amazon so you can compare and contrast all the products I use every day and ask me any questions you like via Facebook or Twitter. or even just email me from the contact page of this site.

My gear set up changes depending on circumstances but I have set up for desktop, mobile, action, two person interviews, 360 Video, green screen, live streaming to various social platforms and more.

Getting the right lighting, audio, shot, editing software, is not easy and it takes hours to work out if you are new to it.

You can see the fruit of my testing all listed easily at Will’s Gear Guide and should you decide to purchase any of these based on my recommendation then let my know and I will share some videos I have showing exactly how I use them with all the tricks you learn from using them for some months.

I think you will be surprised at just how affordable the starter kit you need to start the most basic of Video Blog (or Vlog).

I have used multiple smartphone stands, microphones, adaptors and lenses and the best mix I have arrived at all cost less than $200 which would be less than an hour chargeable time to recover but I can assure you it took me far more time than that in testing to get there. If this helps you then I am happy to have spent the time.

If you are not requiring this urgently (and most of you reading this will not) then buying it via amazon and having it delivered between 2 to 21 days later will save you up to 50% on getting it in a store. Check the guide for yourself. It is all there in black and white.

I have narrowed it down to just 4 products in my ideal Vlog starter kit these are:

  1. Best Smartphone Stand – Benro Smart Mini Tripod and Selfie Stick
  2. Best Smartphone Lens – Olloclip ActiveLens for iPhone 6 & 6s
  3. Best Lavelier Microphone – Rode SmartLav Microphone
  4. Must have adaptor – Rode Microphone SC6

Images of each of the 4 items are shown below:

1. Tripod and selfie Stick
2. Ultra-Wide and Telephoto Lens
3. Smartphone and Tablet Lavalier Microphone
4. Microphone and Earphone input adaptor

Anyone purchasing a mix of the above items will be set for the first year should they wish to become a mobile content creator extraordinaire!

As I mentioned above you can see all these items and more at WillsGearGuide.com to check the best prices on Amazon right now as well as all my set up guides.

My only warning is once you get started you will likely get hooked like me in which case join my communities and I will introduce you to others just like you!

Why am I in love with these products?

I will address each numbered product in turn….

Well here goes… Why I love these 4 tools:

  1. The stand also comes with a bluetooth remote so you can start and finish the videos without touching the smartphone. It is also rechargeable via mini HDMI to USB cable so NO BATTERIES!!.
  2. The Lens allows you to do either wide angle so you can be right up to the smartphone but not crowd the shot to get the best audio even if you do not use an microphone.
  3. The SmartLav microphone but if you do there is no question is gives the best audio of all the microphones I have tested for my two person interviews and
  4. with the adaptor it allows you to attach two (2) of these microphones at once PLUS test the audio with your headphones without having to unplug everything.

So you see it is not just the products in isolation (which is good) but how I use them together that makes it my ultimate starter kit.
